I graduated from Glasgow University with a degree in Scottish Language and Literature in 2001 before going on to complete my PGCE at Strathclyde University. I’ve taught English since then and have wide experience at Standard Grade, Intermediate 2, Higher and Advanced Higher levels. I also spent five years teaching in Australia, at both school and university level, while completing an MPhil in English Literature. I love teaching English because it gives me the opportunity to share my love of language and literature.
I graduated in 2000 with a degree in English with Media Studies and went on the Jordanhill College, where I achieved a Distinction in my PGCE. I have now in my twelfth year of teaching and have accrued a wealth of experience in classroom practice and in examination preparation. I have been working with SQA for seven years, marking Advanced Higher Dissertations, Advanced Higher Literature and Advanced Higher Creative Writing. I am responsible for all Advanced English at the school I work in and have been very proud of the results the young people have achieved over the years. I have a great deal of experience with the Higher course and have high expectations of what young people can achieve. I am passionate about literature, reading and writing and am able to transmit that to the young people in my classes. I have an excellent track record of achievement at Higher with my classes, and also with young people I have tutored in the past.
I graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in English Literature in 2009. Immediately after, I began my Secondary PGCE in English at the same institute which is rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted as a teacher training provider. I attained the top grade, as a trainee, teaching in city schools in Norwich before moving on to teaching in Essex in 2010. I have experience teaching both A-Level and GCSE with a variety of options. I have had success with the AQA A-Level English Literature A course, AQA GCSE English only, AQA GCSE English Literature, AQA GCSE English Language and WJEC GCSE Media Studies. Each new teaching experience is valuable, and I enjoy the time spent with students helping them to succeed. My exam results from my classes so far have been excellent. I aim to assist students with reaching their potential as well as developing a love of reading.
