Cassandra Young
I teaching reading, language arts and vocabulary to students in grades K-2.
My name is Cassandra and I have worked with students ages 0 – 18 in some capacity over the past 23 years.
As an educator I facilitate learning by encouraging students to join in the process, engage in the process, and own the process of learning helping them to become confident readers and lifelong learners.
I tutor students in the area of reading and language arts, helping them become confident readers and learners in the process. Some of the ways that I do this include…
- Meeting the student where he or she is academically
- Provide live sessions allowing the student to interact with me
- Read Aloud to the student soo he or she knows what good reading sounds like
- Introduce new vocabulary
- Provide a variety of strategies showing students how to “attack” new and unfamiliar vocabulary
- Watch here to see how we can best work together:
Ms. Cassandra was our sons Kindergarten teacher and she advised us to have our son tested for the gifted program before he entered 2nd grade and followed up with us to make sure that we did. I am happy to say that he is now in the 8th grade and continues to thrive. We have so many great memories from Ms. Cassandra’s Kindergarten class.
Ms. Cassandra worked with our sons 5th grade class and I remember him coming home excited about hearing her read aloud to the class. He talked about how she would have them close their eyes and act like they were in the same place as the characters. He said it sounded like she was rapping when she read! It made him want to read more.
