Hi, I’m Hayley and I love to teach and tutor!
I am a qualified teacher with 6 years of Primary teaching experience. During this time I have been fortunate to develop a wealth of skills and understanding across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, in both a mainstream Primary school setting and a Generic Special School setting.
As a teacher, I have an Enhanced DBS with barred list check and I am fully insured.
Throughout my teaching, I have led creative subject areas such as Art, Music and D+T and I have created my own Phonics afterschool booster sessions and lunchtime maths sessions, alongside promoting and delivering our Reading At Home and Homework Policy across the school.
In addition, I have worked with a range of learning needs and I know how important it is to recognise each child as an individual in order to understand how they best learn, so that I am able to adapt my teaching to meet their needs.
Online tuition allows me to be available to more students that need that extra bit of support. However, not only that, it is much easier for parents as no travelling is involved, you are able to be present during the sessions and children love to learn with technology – not to mention the whole world is ever increasingly learning and working online nowadays!
Finally, confidence is key when it comes to learning. I pride myself in creating nurturing, safe spaces when I tutor online, where children feel comfortable to make mistakes and ask the questions that they may feel reluctant to in a classroom setting. After all, there is no such thing as mistakes, only lessons to be learnt

I like to make my sessions fun, engaging and approachable, to encourage discussion. This way, any misconceptions can be picked up quickly and worked on together, as well as informing my assessment when considering what steps to take in the following session.
Typically, my sessions look like this:
- We begin with a retrieval activity to recap on the previous session’s learning. This also helps to switch our brains on and get us engaged for the current session and the learning we are about to do!
- I will then share with my student what our focus is for the day’s session, and briefly explain the tasks that we will complete together
- We may introduce our new learning with a short video, song or animation
- We complete several interactive activities together, where I am able to share my screen with my student and take turns
- We finish with an educational game linked to our session to apply our learning
- Homework to build on the session’s learning may then be set for the following week
“I wanted a tutor for my son as it had become apparent that he was struggling to understand maths. Hayley was amazing and instantly engaged his attention. My son’s concentration sometimes wanders but Hayley brought his attention back to the work at hand every time. She used games to make the learning fun and I don’t think my son even realised he was doing work! Hayley used a number of different learning techniques and methods to ensure my son was progressing and would keep me updated throughout. I would definitely recommend Hayley as a tutor, as she has continued to improve my son’s level of maths, which both the the teachers at school and me myself have noticed.”
