Louisa Robinson
GCSE French, Edexcel exam board specification, beginners French to adult learners.
I am an Edinburgh University modern languages graduate (French & Italian) who has over 10 years of professional work experience in the higher education sector, acting world and tutoring industries. I have multiple interests in learning languages, mentoring and tutoring young people and am hoping to train as a languages teacher in the UK within the next few years. I am wanting to build up more professional work experience in tutoring before studying for a PGCE.
I’ve experience of teaching beginners French to adult learners for basic holiday language skills. My expertise lies in confidence building, speaking, listening, reading and writing practice and consolidating all essential components of language learning for exam technique success.
Previous to private tutoring, I worked as a French language assistant at a Swiss children’s Camp Suisse in 2008 and also worked teaching English to French speakers with Ski Ten International in 2009 in Belgium.
I tutor GCSE and A-Level French by focusing on the 4 core essential components of language learning: speaking, listening, reading and writing. I teach the lesson in French so that the ear becomes attuned to the target language and encourage the tutee to respond in French or to demonstrate understanding. I mix my lessons up with written grammar exercises which underpin language learning as well as working online through interactive activities such as quizzes and games to cement vocabulary learning.
- Learn 10 French words a day per theme
- Practice oral speaking cue cards and one wild card
- Listen to fun and engaging resource materials
- Revise textbook material and review model answers
- Produce a timeline of learning objectives
